Overview
Drum & Bass artist, Typo, wanted a way to visualise the internal conflict that occurs throughout their creative process when making music. An ever changing landscape of moments of intense clarity that become distorted by feelings of self doubt, anxiety and imposter syndrome.
Concept
A typographic approach was taken to represent the idea of distortion through illegibility. Using Typo's name as an anchor and clear point of reference for clarity and then distorting it to varying degrees and speeds to convey the sense of conflict and the push-pull nature of the feelings experienced.
It was important that these moments of change emphasised the varying degrees and speed that these feelings manifest. Sometimes a slight distraction, other times a complete destruction of clear thought, occurring gradually over time, or switching in an instant.
